Cellab was created by the Systems Engineering group from Institute of Automatic Control at the Silesian University of Technology in 2008. The laboratory combines state-of-the-art equipment with a multidisciplinary professionals representing molecular biology and genetics, cellular biology and medicine, bioinformaticians, computer vision and control theory.

The main focus of the research concerns the response to environmental and medical genotoxic factors that introduce changes to DNA in living cells. The studies of changes in gene expression, DNA mutations, protein glycosylation, induction of reactive oxygen, nitrogen species and other are  conducted with various high-throughput methods.
