Molecular Biology Laboratory

The laboratory is supervised by prof. Joanna Rzeszowska-Wolny since the day of its creation. Individual units and persons responsible for them are as follows:

  • Cell culture – Anna Lalik, Magdalena Skonieczny
  • Cytology - Magdalena Skonieczny
  • DNA and RNA - Anna Lalik
  • Microarray - Anna Lalik
  • Biochemistry - Anna Lalik, Magdalena Skonieczny
  • Microscopy and visualizations - Artur Bal, Sebastian Student

Some of the devices owned by the laboratory:

BD FACSAriaIII Flow Cytometer

This flow cytometer allows to identify cell populations with different morphology features, phenotype and expression profile of selected molecular markers. Using an automated sorter the cells can be divided into fractions used for further analysis.

Agilent microarray scanner

This Agilent G2565CA scanner allows to process up to 50 microarray slides of various type and produced by distinct manufacturers.

Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer

The Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer system provides sizing, quantitation and quality control of DNA, RNA, proteins and cells.

Syngene G BOX XT4 imaging chamber

Documentation system for fluorescently of chemiluminescent stained gels.

Dionex high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)

This Dionex high performance liquid chromatograph uses a coulometric detector Coulochem III Esa and UV-Vis (Waters). It additionally includes an autosampler and fraction collector.

Real-Time PCR Detection System with a maximum sample capacity of 96x 50 µl wells.

Tecan Infinite F200 Pro microplate reader

Includes two read dispensers allowing to measure the level of absorption, fluorescence and luminescence.

Sonics VCX-130 ultrasonic disintegrator

Ultrasonic disintegrator with protective, soundproof chamber for processing medium volume samples from 150 μl to 150 ml.

Beckman Optima XPN Ultracentrifuge

This Beckman ultracentrifuge is capable of spinning up to 90 000 rpm under specific temperature, selected from 0 to 40° C range.

Ultraviolet Crosslinkers

Three separate chambers are available capable of introducing UV radiation of various type (UVA, UVB, UVC)

Cell breeding equipment

The laboratory includes four laminars, two incubation chambers and other cell breeding equipment placed in two separate sterile workrooms.
